秋分，是二十四节气中的第十六个节气，

也是秋季的第四个节气，

通常在每年公历9月22日至24日交节。

It generally occurs between September 22nd and 24th in the Gregorian calendar each year.

此时太阳直射地球赤道，全球昼夜均分，

At this time, the sun shines directly on the Earth's equator, resulting in equal day and night lengths across the globe.

正如《春秋繁露》所言：

As stated inChunqiu Fanlu(The Luxuriant Dew of the Spring and Autumn Annals):

“秋分者，阴阳相半也，

"The Autumnal Equinox is when yin and yang are equally divided,

故昼夜均而寒暑平。”

so day and night are of equal length, and warmth and coldness are balanced."

这一日，北半球开始昼短夜长，

On this day, the Northern Hemisphere begins to experience shorter days and longer nights,

昼夜温差逐渐加大，

with the temperature difference between day and night gradually widening.

暑热消退而寒凉未至，

The summer heat fades away, yet the cold has not yet arrived,

恰是一年中气候最宜人的时节。

making it the most pleasant time of year in terms of climate.

古人将秋分视为“平分秋色”的象征——

The ancients regarded the Autumnal Equinox as a symbol of"dividing autumn equally."按农历划分，秋季从立秋至霜降共90天，

According to the lunar calendar, autumn spans 90 days from the Beginning of Autumn to the First Frost.

秋分恰居其中，是初秋与深秋的“分水岭”。

The Autumnal Equinox falls right in the middle, marking the dividing line between early and late autumn.

其“分”字既指昼夜平分，

The character"fen" (meaning"divide") not only refers to the equal division of day and night

又暗含季节平分的双重意义。

but also implies the equal division of the season.

秋分时节，农事活动进入“三秋”大忙阶段。

During the Autumnal Equinox, agricultural activities enter the busy"three autumns" period (referring to autumn harvest, autumn sowing, and autumn tillage).

农谚“白露秋分夜，一夜冷一夜”

The agricultural proverb"Each night from the White Dew to the Autumnal Equinox grows colder"

提醒人们及时添衣防寒。
