On July 14, the 2025 Cross-Strait (Dezhou) Baji Quan Skills Exchange Conference and Youth Chinese Culture Study Camp—Cross-Strait Youth Spear Training Camp commenced at the Jinshan Cultural Park in Qingyun County. Twenty-six students from Brazil, Taiwan, China and other regions gathered to experience the unique charm of Wu Zhong’s Baji Quan.

After the opening ceremony, the students visited the Baji Quan Museum to learn about the history and cultural significance of Wu Zhong’s Baji Quan. Under the guidance of Baji Quan coaches, they practiced some of Wu Zhong’s Baji Quan routines and spear techniques, marking the start of their two-week training program.“I really love Chinese martial arts and have watched many kung fu movies. Coming to Qingyun today and learning the Baji Quan spear routines from the masters has made me even more excited and happy”, said MIGUEL DE OLIVEIRA MANACERO, a student from Brazil.

The Hometown of Wu Zhong, the Origin of Baji Quan. Qingyun is the hometown of Wu Zhong, the founder of Baji Quan. By synthesizing the strengths of various martial arts schools, he established the Baji Quan system, centered around Baji Quan and Liuhe Spear techniques, making it one of China’s top ten martial arts styles. Baji Quan is a renowned traditional Chinese martial art, often described as“In civil affairs, Tai Chi brings peace to the world; in martial prowess, Baji Qua stabilizes the universe.” In recent years, Qingyun County has been committed to inheriting and promoting outstanding traditional culture, vigorously advancing the legacy of Wu Zhong’s Baji Quan, and enhancing its reputation as the birthplace of Baji Quan and a cultural hallmark.
