The Dragon Boat Festival falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month in China to commemorate Qu Yuan (ca. 340 BC-278 BC), a patriotic poet and politician, who jumped into the Miluo River on this day. On this festival, people honor him by some activities like wrapping rice dumplings (also called Zongzi in Chinese) and rowing dragon boats.
Most Chinese festivals are related to specific foods, and the Dragon Boat Festival is no exception.
In Lingcheng district, Dezhou, East China’s Shandong province, people roll bamboo leaves into a funnel shape and fill them with glutinous rice. They then gather the leaves towards the center and tie them with strings to get zongzi.

Similarly, there is a tradition of making herbal sachetes to expel insects and diseases during the Dragon Boat Festival.

colored ropes, silk threads,as well as natural Chinese medicine
such as cloves and mugwort leaves. They methodically sew pieces of cloth and fill them with herbs to get uniquely shaped and brightly colored sachetes.
