The grand scene of Yaoshan Temple Fair was vividly depicted in"Going to the Yaoshan Mountain rather than the Qianfo Mountain" of Lixia Bamboo Branch Song, written by Wang Derong, a poet in the Qing Dynasty.

药山街道因辖区内有“齐烟九点”之一药山而得名。药山位于济南市天桥区北部，北倚滔滔黄河，海拔高度125米。

Yaoshan Subdistrict is named after Yaoshan Mountain (related to the traditional Chinese medicine), one of the Nine Mountains (seen from the"Qiyanjiudian Arch" on the Qianfo Mountain) in Tianqiao district. Located in the north of the district, with an altitude of 125 meters, Yaoshan Mountain leans against the surging Yellow River in the north.

相传古代医圣先师扁鹊曾到此采药而得名，又因山南出产名贵中药材阳起石而名闻天下。药山也有云山、卢山、阳起山、拣金山等不同的山名。元人于钦也在其所著的《齐乘》中记载：“药山，出阳起石，极佳，故名。”

Legend has it that the ancient medical sage Bian Que had gathered herbs here. So it is named after him, and it is known for producing actinolite in the south, a valuable Chinese herbal medicine. It also has aliases such as Yunshan Mountain, Lushan Mountain, Actinolite Mountain, and Gold Collecting Mountain. Yu Qin, an official in the Yuan Dynasty, also recorded in his book Qi Cheng that"Yaoshan Mountain produces quality actinolite, hence the name."

元代书画名家赵孟頫的《鹊华秋色图》则充分展现了八百年前药山周边地区的山明水秀的地理风貌。明末清初，药山三月三庙会逐渐发展为与千佛山九月九庙会相齐名，是济南人登高踏青的常去之处。

Zhao Mengfu, a famous painter and calligrapher in the Yuan Dynasty, painted the Autumn Colors on the Que and Hua Mountains, fully revealing the picturesque areas surrounding Yaoshan 800 years ago. In the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, the Yaoshan Temple Fair on March 3rd gradually became equally famous as the Qianfo Mountain Temple Fair on September 9th, as an attractive place for Jinan people to climb mountains and go for an outing.

从1996年开始，药山陆续进行了危岩体加固、绿植补种和历史人文景观改造，依托山体建设了洋涓湖公园和天桥四馆。现已形成植被繁茂、山川秀美、公共服务完善的规划格局，重现了药山历史底蕴深厚，文化繁盛的盛况。

Since 1996, Yaoshan has successively reinforced the dangerous rock mass, replanted green plants, renovated historical and cultural landscapes, and built the Yangjuan Lake Park and Tianqiao Four Buidlings (art gallery, gym, library, and archive) based on the mountain. Now it has perfect public services with lush vegetation, elegant mountains, and lurid rivers, reproducing its profound history and prosperous culture.
